I am in a bible study and the book that we are working on is called “Proven” by Jennie allen ….

It is a great study that digs deep into why we don’t need to “Prove” anything to anyone, and how living in “prove” mode is detrimental to your health and wellness.

This bible study has been very life altering for me. My whole life I have made my drive within about proving to others, my family, etc how hardworking I am. How in shape I am in .. It’s exhausting physically and mentally!

Stop living in “Prove” mode ..meaning “Proving” you have to be better than your co worker, out perform people at the gym, out dress those around etc …

It is like you are on a treadmill that will never stop! It is a constant struggle to try to out do, out perform, out work and its never going to fulfill you the way you ultimately want to be fulfilled!

Stop listening to people who don’t feel good about themselves and are trying to put their insecurities onto you …
Take the pressure off yourself and realize you don’t need to “Prove” yourself to anyone! If you look at some of the most successful people in the world they went against the flow and stood up for what they believed and didn’t care to “prove” to anyone they were confident on their mission and what they were here to do!
Stop basing your values on what other’s think don’t let your identity be who others want let it be what you want!

Today is Cinco De Mayo and just because you have made your health a priority does not mean your social life has to become extinct.

Here is some great advice on how to drink responsibly and not feel like you have completely sabotaged your goals in the process.

I personally have used these tips when going out, and I never feel hungover, too drunk, or unhealthy. So try it out for yourself, and feel what a difference tequila and soda water make!

# 1 Act like a Fine Wine: – red wine in particular. Because of antioxidants such as resveratrol, which can help prevent damage to blood vessels, lower “bad” cholesterol, and prevent blood clots, when consumed in moderation, red wine is often considered to be a healthy alcoholic option!

A tip I like to use it drink a glass of water before I order and after I finish my glass. Now I am drinking two to three glasses of water for every 1 glass of wine and keeping my body hydrated.

#2 Add Soda Water and Lime to Tequila – This has a low sugar content, very refreshing, and keeps you hydrated and satisfied! This is a Fit Chic Margarita that will leave you feeling festive not foggy.

# 3 Avoid Beers and Stick to Low Sugar Ciders – Beer is made from wheat, barley, and hops which inflames us, bloats us, and gives us a gut that isn’t healthy for us. Try Cider Beers which are fermented beer from apples and or pears.

Watch out for Cider Beers that are high sugar content and stick to the following brands below: Crispin Cider

Colorado Cider

# 4 Stick to clear booze  and add a splash– like vodka (derived from potatoes), or bacardi (white rum),. I love the Bacardi O and soda water with fresh oranges. You can do lemon vodka and fresh lemons with water or soda water. You can also tell your bartender to make a vodka soda water and add a splash of cranberry. Now you are getting the cranberry taste without the loaded sugars and calories.

Also the key is to drink earlier in the day that way by 9,10 o’clock you will be ready for bed,  just when your body and mind are ready for bed too. The more sleep that you get, the better your body will feel!

So try it out for yourself, and feel what a difference tequila and soda water make!

Happy Cinco De Mayo …

The tastiest Mexican treat is the one and only CHURRO!

Fair goers carni’s, and theme park lovers crave these delicious Mexican delights …

So why to turn the most popular mexican dessert into the most loved breakfast treat by all!


Donut Holes:
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1 tablespoon coconut palm sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup coconut creamer or almond creamer
  • ⅓ cup of homemade Hazlenut Spread *(see directions below)

Directions … 

In a food processor combine 1 cup of raw hazelnuts, 1/4 cup of dark cacao chocolate, 1/2 tsp of vanilla, and 1/8 tsp of salt.

  • 1 tablespoon grass-fed butter
  • ⅓ cup palm sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg

For Donuts and Coating: 

  1. In a large bowl, whisk all of the dry ingredients together. Next, add the oil, egg, vanilla and creamer. Whisk the batter until smooth and lump free.
  2. Place Hazlenut spread in donut batter and stir until completely mixed.
  3. I use my trusty Donut Maker spray it with non stick spray and fill each donut holder with a tablespoon of batter. If you do not have a donut maker you can make in the oven with a mini muffin tin. Set oven to 350 degrees.
  4. Spoon the batter into each muffin hole, filling to to ¾ full. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until they are golden and a toothpick inserted into the centre of a donut comes out clean
  5. In a small bowl melt butter, then combine with nutmeg, cinnamon, and sugar.
  6. Dip the donuts lightly covering them and evenly coated.
  7. Brush each donut over with a light coating of melted butter; combine the sugar and cinnamon together in a shallow bowl; toss each donut hole into the cinnamon sugar mix until evenly coated.

It’s Taco Tuesday …

cauliflower enchilada

My husband and I LOVE Mexican food .. but it is very hard to find healthy delicious recipes that taste like true authentic Mexican .. So here is one to add to the books …  It has so much flavor and is very easy to make and the Perfect Cinco De Mayo recipe!


4 cups shredded cauliflower (about 1 medium head)

1 lb grass-fed ground beef

1/2 red onion

1/2 green bell pepper

1/2 red pepper

1/2 orange pepper

1 jalapeño, minced

1 6 oz can of diced green chilies

3 eggs

1 can of red enchilada sauce

1 tsp chili powder

1/4 tsp cumin

2 cloves of garlic

1 tsp of creole seasoning

2 avocados diced and chopped

1 cup of salsa

1 6 oz can of diced olives


Preheat the oven to 400ºF.

Combine the enchilada sauce, chili powder, cumin, garlic, in a bowl until smooth

Saute the ground beef & onion in a large pan until the meat is no longer pink.

Stir the  peppers, jalapeño, and enchilada sauce into the pan until combined.

Drizzle a 9 x 13″ baking dish with avocado oil, or a cooking fat of your choice, to avoid sticking.

Fill the bottom of your dish with the shredded cauliflower, then top with the meat and veggie mixture.

Crack the three eggs into the casserole, and stir them in until the eggs are no longer visible.

Once stirred, bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour- or until browned around the edges.

Let it cool for a few minutes, slice into squares, & serve!

A New Month = New Goals…..


It’s that wonderful time again … a new month which equals a good time to check – in with my goals, reevaluate them, and put new ones in place….

I found this great quote that reads:

When I  went to the Ronald Reagan museum, I got to witness all the  amazing accomplishments that one extraordinary man achieved in his lifetime.

He was an athlete, college graduate, actor, governor, and President.

He grew up in a small town called Tampico Illinois. His family did not have much money, but they did know the definition of hard work, and so did Mr. Reagan.

Reagan did not look at life and say “I am going to President when I am 70”. He paved the way by the steps and actions he took in his life each day to get there.

He was dedicated and when the going got tough he pressed on and got tougher.

A lot of times we get so caught up in the day-to-day of life and the “why can’t I just have this life” or why can’t life be easier” mentality and loose site of what it is we actually are shooting for.

I always use the expression, you have to go to the school of the Hard Knocks in order to really appreciate what you have. If it were easy then every one would do it and no one would truly appreciate where they came from. If there is no struggle there is no growth and without growth there is no strive to get better! Hence why setting goals is so important to our success in all aspects of our lives.

Think if Reagan was called one day at 30 and told that he was  going to be the president of the United States. I don’t believe at 30 he would have gone down in history of one of the greatest presidents of  all time; he was not ready, and he had not put in the work yet to earn or deserve that title.

I feel that a lot of times we want to get from A to Z but forget  about going through M L N O P. Some of our hardest times and biggest struggles make us  tenacious and fight for what it is we ultimately want from life!

So when we do finally get to where we want to be we appreciate it. We have gone through a journey to find out what works, what doesn’t, and figure out exactly why you are in the place you are.

“Stay in it to win it”, and you will be on your journey to ultimate success!

4 Reasons to Fire Your Trainer …

When trying to workout it can be information overload ..

Well here are 4 tips to know if you should hire or fire your trainer …

#1 If you lift weights your gonna get big! – Check out my blog on why lifting weights will not make you big it will actually do the opposite!

#2 There’s Only 1 way to do a movement – For example squatting research shows that there is not one “perfect” way to do a squat. There are a lot of elements that go into a squat or even a pushup. We all are built so differently and have different areas of tightness which effects the way we would teach a movement to our clients.

#3 You need to weigh a certain number for your Height –  No one has the ability or right to tell you what a proper weight is. Every body is different. You were not meant to look like anyone else and your body’s proper weight is what makes you feel confident and comfortable. Stop letting a number on the scale have so much power.

#4 Anyone can do “these” workouts – Come check out my class, it’s for all levels.’ We have all heard this line, and then get to the class and have no idea what we are doing and why we are here. As a trainer for 15+ years I think the best way to start something is by “interviewing your gym” first and seeing what it is they are offering and if it is a right fit for you. Then you will know (and hopefully be coached) on what class is or is not right for you!

Fit Chic Salmon Egg Bake

I love to make egg bakes. They taste delicious and they contain my protein, veggies, and good healthy fats all in one. It gives the pep in the step I need and gets my day off to a great start! This is also a great dish for Sunday brunch!


1 tablespoon of coconut oil

1 medium onion, thinly sliced crosswise

10 large eggs

1 cup diced zucchini

1 cup spinach

1 cup mushrooms

2 cloves of garlic

1 tablespoons chopped fresh dill

Dash black pepper

6 ounces smoked wild caught Alaskan salmon, skin removed broken into  pieces

*Optional ¾ cup goat cheese, crumbled


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease an 8-inch x 8-inch/20-centimeter x 20-centimeter baking dish with coconut oil or coconut oil spray.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat, then add 1 tablespoon coconut oil and garlic. Add the zucchini, onions, mushrooms, spinach, and pepper. Cook and stir until the veggies are wilted and lightly browned.
  3. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, beat the eggs together with the dill, then mix in the smoked salmon. Next add zucchini mixture to the eggs and stir until everything is well combined. Pour the mixture into the baking dish top with goat cheese. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the center is set and not liquid. If it is runny in the middle cut casserole in squares and place back in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Enjoy!

Yes abs are made in the kitchen, but they can also be “defined” in your yoga practice!

Here are my favorite yoga poses that create rockstar abs and get you stretched and feeling great in the process.

#1 Boat Pose: This pose strengthens abs, quadriceps, back muscles, and hip flexors. You can  modify the pose by bending the knees or you can hover above the ground, be parallel to the mat, or extend into full boat

#2 High/Low Plank -This pose engages your core and activates front and side abdominal muscles.

#3 One Arm Balance – This pose tests your balance and strengthens your obliques, shoulders, and glutes all in one!

#4 Warrior 3 – With this great balance pose your core has to stay engaged the whole time in order for you stay balanced and stable.

#5 Triangle – My personal favorite pose. This is great for stretching your legs, muscles around the knee, hips, groin, hamstrings, shoulders, spine, and obliques.

Yummy Fit Chic Cake Batter Dip

Here is the perfect after school, dinner, or anytime treat. It’s perfect to dip with strawberries or this easy Graham Cracker Recipe.It is also great to eat by the spoonful!
  1. 1 banana, mashed
  2. 1 Tablespoon of stevia
  3. 1 tablespoon almond or coconut flour
  4. 1 tablespoon of gluten free flour
  5. 2 tablespoons of cashew butter
  6. 1 tablespoon of raw honey
  7. 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  8. 1 tablespoon of vanilla coconut or almond creamer
  9. Sprinkles (optional)


  1. In a mixing bowl, combine your mashed banana with the protein powder, flours, sweetener, sprinkles and mix well.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl or stovetop, melt your nut butter with honey until combined. Stir in the vanilla extract and pour into the dry mixture and mix well until fully combined. then add coconut creamer.
  3. Transfer to a bowl and top with more sprinkles.
  4. Enjoy!
