Last week we were having a discussion about puppy chow and my husband had never heard of this delightful Christmas treat. So here is my Fit Chic version of this popular midwest treat.
Ingredients:
3 cups roasted raw almonds
1/2 cup dark chocolate
1/4 cup sunbutter (or your favorite nut butter)
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 cup toasted unsweetened coconut flakes
1/4 cup powdered coconut sugar
2 tablespoons of grass-fed butter or coconut oil
1 scoop of vanilla or chocolate whey (chocolate lovers use chocolate powder)
Directions:
In a large sauce pan heat the chocolate, butter or coconut oil, and nut butter over medium low heat. Once melted, add the coconut flakes and almonds and stir to coat. Place the almonds in a plastic storage bag and add the whey protein powder, sugar, cinnamon. Shake the bag until the almonds are fully coated.
