It is really hard for me to eat a big breakfast in the morning. The thought of eggs, bacon, and fruit doesn’t sit right with me for some reason, especially as it begins to get into the warmer seasons.
What I do love however, is starting my day off with a delicious smoothie. They are refreshing, healthy, and give all the elements needed to start the day off to a great one! These smoothies are great for grab and go and drink in the car. They literally take about 3 minutes to make.
I make this recipe for my clients, my family, and myself….
It is nutritious and delicious and will give you something to look forward to in the mornings.
Ingredients:
8 oz of unsweetened almond or coconut milk
1/2 frozen banana or (4-5 frozen banana pieces)
1 tablespoon of raw sunbutter, almond butter, or peanut butter
1 cup of spinach leaves (fresh)
1 scoop of vanilla or chocolate whey protein
1/2 cup of crushed ice
1 teaspoon of honey
* optional – 1 teaspoon of unsweetened shredded coconut flakes
Directions:
In a blender combine ice, milk, banana, nut butter, whey protein, spinach, honey, and coconut on medium to high until it has a “shake-like” consistency.
Sometimes I have to use a spoon to stir intermittently and then continue to blend. If it is too thick, you can always add a tiny bit of water to help it blend.
Now you have no excuse to not eat the most important meal of the day anymore!
Enjoy!
